Question
Im sixteen and my mom wont let me read the twilight series?
or the harry potter series
Answer
Harry Potter is brilliant. Twilight is plotless, antifeminist, shallow drivel, and teaches that stalking and emotional abuse are romantic. Id say youre not missing much there. brbrNonetheless, I can certainly understand how frustrated you must be at your mom a woman I know wont allow her son to read Harry Potter. I find that ridiculous, and hes only ten. At sixteen, she really shouldnt be controlling what you read. Youll be legally an adult in just over a year, and at this stage, telling you youre not allowed to read certain books is less her looking out for you and more her just stifling you. Id tell her you want to read them, and that you dont feel its her place to tell you that you cant. Tell her that if theres anything to her theory that the books will put quotbad stuffquot in your head, your faith cant be that strong and you will obviously turn away from Christianity sooner or later anyway. Point out that her attitude, far more than just stopping you doing something you want to do, shows a fundamental lack of trust in you and your feelings about your religion. I dont know the nature of your relationship with your mom, but I would fight her on this one it really isnt fair of her.brbrI would seriously advise you against reading Twilight, though. Its really a very bad book.
